Just use about 2 cups cornmeal then add buttermilk til its at a slightlythick but still can run off the spoon consistensy. Heat butter in an iron skillet in oven at 350 while its preheating then pour in your cornbread. Bake u til golden brown on top. This is the way my grandma did it and the way I do it and everyone always says they love are cornbread and it's that simple.

U need 1c self rising flower 2c corn meal a large egg buttermilk or whole milk which ever u prefer to ur satisfied with the consistency and a bit of butter mix well Use a cast iron skillet if u have it but a small amount of oil in the skillet to warm once warm pour in ur mixture and place in the oven at 350/375 till golden brown and firm If u like sweet corn bread add sugar to taste.
