Hit and run
Posted on: 29 Apr 2018

My son was involved in a car accident. The person purposely ran him off the road. The front of his car was messed up and one of his lights in damaged along with a few other things. His car insurance doesnt cover hit and runs. How can we make sure the person pays for the damages?

If your son can prove it and knows the person I say sue him. Take the person to court. Your son should not have to pay for the damages of what someone else did. They hit him and took off. He could have died. I say sue

If your son knows person you may be able to go through small claims court if the damages will be under your states max allowance. Here its $5000. If dont know persons info its probably lost cause. I went through that. Good luck.

If you don’t have any information on the driver, you can’t really do anything.

However, if you do have info, sue sue sue! I cannot stress this enough!

I would have to ask a few other questions. Did he get their license plate number and then call the authorities and file a report? If he did not, I would think it would be a lost cause because he would not know who hit him. If he did, the cops can investigate.

I say sue. The person hit your son and left the scene. He needs to be taken to court and be forced to pay. Since your son’s insurance doesn’t cover hit and runs that would be the next best thing.
