As long as you know he is safe and can't climb out then you will have to just put him in the crib and leave him. He will learn to teach himself to go to sleep. They really need to learn this as a vital part of growing up. It's best to keep it in his own room where he cannot see you in this time . You should lay him down and no more than 1-2 times go back in do nothing but lay him down again say I love you and walk out , when he does cry that is. Try not talking as much as possible. Trust me he will fall asleep on his own and it won't take to many times before he doesn't do it anymore and will just go on to sleep. Even at ,8 months they are so smart and just think crying will get one if you to get him out of crib . It'll be a few very hard and heart breaking nights but it'll all seem worth it the first time you lay him down, and walk out with him falling asleep

I really don't let my son sleep in his crib. I worried too much about how baby dies in their crib. So i have my son sleep on my bed with me

My daughter passed away due to SIDS on December 16th 2017. Which I know that at 6 months the chance of them dying from SIDS reduces greatly but now I would never put my daughter in her crib in her room and just tell her I love her and leave the last time I did that I came back in the room to check on her and it had been no longer than 45 minutes my daughter was no longer breathing. So in my opinion my suggestion is if he wants to sleep in his crib beside your bed let him. Id say a lot of people will argue with me on this but I used to be a firm believer that children needed to be in their own rooms from the beginning or at least from after the first 6 weeks now now I believe they need to be within an arm's length of a parent and also still have a monitor right there the morning right with you or you can hear your child breathing and maybe what I'm saying is too much I don't know I just know that if I cld have my daughter back I would never leave her alone for her own safety.
