When I was younger I had a hard time in school I was distracted by other classmates with a room full of students my grandma would find learning exercises at home to help me study better when I would get a good grade at school she would put a quarter in a jar for every good grade I made at the end of the 6 weeks whatever was in the jar she let me spend it on whatever I wanted she explained to me it's an reward for studying your best and working hard getting good grades

Find which way helps him learn better, whether it be by showing him or having him do it himself. The way a child I'd taught can really negatively affect his learning process. Try to find fun activities with his school work to do, because a lot of times a child I'd uninterested and that also hinders his retaining skills. Make sure nothing is going on at the school either that is making him uncomfortable. That could be another factor and it helps just to be sure
